About The Position

Rothman Orthopaedics is seeking a temporary, full-time Non-Surgical Clinical Assistant (Medical Assistant or Athletic Trainer) for our Northeast Philadelphia office. This role will support a Sports Medicine Physician and involve travel to our Bensalem and Newtown, PA offices. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:45 AM to 4:15 PM. The assistant will provide administrative and clinical support to the Physician and Physician's Assistant, aiming to increase patient satisfaction and ensure compliance with various procedures and protocols.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED minimum education requirement.
  • Must be a CCMA, CRMA, EMT, or ATC.
  • Professional license/certification must be active and valid.
  • Knowledge of medical office procedures and medical terminology.
  • Computer skills including, but not limited to, MS Office Suite.
  • Experience with EMR system(s) preferred.
  • Must receive the COVID-19 vaccination as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients in the waiting room and escort them to the exam room.
  • Direct patients to surgery scheduling and/or front desk for checkout.
  • Maintain order, cleanliness, and inventory in the exam room, and prepare it for patients.
  • Clean and autoclave instruments.
  • Provide and scan proper paperwork into the chart for Physician's review.
  • Record vitals as per Physician's request.
  • Prepare injections for the Physician.
  • Pull up x-rays, MRI's, CT's, and various studies pertaining to the patient's exam.
  • Assist patients with clothing when necessary.
  • Dispose of biohazardous waste and sharps according to OSHA regulations, and replace sharps containers.
  • Answer telephones in patient areas and provide voicemail coverage for the Physician.
  • Request reports for various facilities for Physicians.
  • Empty and restock laundry.
  • Scan appointment tracking to identify when patients are ready to be seen by the Physician and direct Physician in patient appointment order.
  • Review Physician schedules for chart preparation, ensuring operative reports, dictations, and studies are present.
  • Complete pre-certifications for MRI's and other Physician orders as necessary.
  • Send Visco Injection authorization requests to the supplement pre-certification representative.
  • Scan information into patient record (including all Physician orders, prescriptions, etc.) on the date of service.
  • Cover other areas in the office when not assigned to a Physician.
  • Cover Provider jellybeans and voicemail as needed/requested.
  • Attend required meetings and participate on committees as requested.
  • Handle specimens (including urine, blood and drainage from incisions, aspirated fluids, etc.) and label accordingly.
  • Follow provider's order instructions to ensure specimens are sent to the appropriate lab for analysis.
  • Responsible for the development, and quarterly update, of physician protocols for office hours, medication draws, patient education, voice mail/jelly beans and clinical protocols.
  • Read and respond to email communications within an appropriate timeframe.
  • Identify weekly schedule, including schedule changes, published by manager.
