About The Position

The Non-Licensed School Based Therapist works with Cullman County schools to make mental health care services and resources accessible to students, helping them address social, emotional, and behavioral challenges that may affect academic success and overall well-being. The role provides counseling through an in-school program and seeks to reduce barriers such as travel and time of day. One full-time position is available, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with travel of up to 50%.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field, with an internship or practicum.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient documentation skills.
• Excellent organizational skills, including suspense and timeframe management.

• Previous experience working with children or adolescents.

Responsibilities

• Provide mental health counseling services through an in-school counseling program in Cullman County schools.
• Perform crisis intervention and resolution as needed.
• Conduct client assessments, intakes, transfers, and discharges.
• Manage a client caseload, including follow-up with clients and guardians.
• Assist school personnel and parents with community referral sources.
• Monitor clients’ progress toward goals.
• Obtain release forms from parents and adhere to confidentiality standards.
• Document information accurately and promptly in electronic client charts, including treatment plans, progress notes, and referrals.
• Maintain billable service and productivity standards.
• Attend required training and staff meetings.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
