About The Position

Weber Gallagher is seeking a highly-skilled and experienced attorney to join their firm as a Partner in the civil defense litigation group in their New York City office. The role involves working on a broad range of general liability litigation matters including personal injury, motor vehicle, property damage, construction and labor law, and product liability. The New York practice has experienced exponential growth, and the firm is looking for a senior-level attorney ready to take on a leadership role, shape the future of a growing practice, and contribute to the strategic direction of the defense team. The ideal candidate will bring substantial legal experience, a proven track record of success, leadership skills, and entrepreneurial drive to lead and build a thriving practice. As a General Partner, the individual will face significant challenges while enjoying the support of a collaborative and forward-thinking team. Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience, preferably in defense litigation.
  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • NY bar license, active and in good standing, required.
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Have experience drafting pleadings and dispositive motions, answering written discovery, taking/defending depositions and handling oral arguments.
  • Have experience in premises liability, general liability, product liability, personal injury, motor vehicle, property damage, construction and labor law, and insurance defense.
  • Have excellent academic credentials as well as strong research, writing, organization, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proven track record of success in courtroom appearances, depositions, and settlement negotiations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a diverse caseload from inception through resolution.
  • Oversee and contribute towards case strategy.
  • Draft pleadings, answer written discovery, take depositions, and participate in arbitrations and trials.
  • Take and defend depositions of parties, fact witnesses, and expert witnesses.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis to develop sound case strategies.
  • Communicate with clients, the court, witnesses, opposing counsel, and co-counsel.
  • Provide regular and timely updates to clients on case status, strategy, and potential outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with partners, associates, and legal staff, and provide mentorship to junior attorneys.
  • Manage cases while adhering to billing and budget requirements.
  • Build and foster strong client relationships.
  • Ability to travel for court, client meetings, etc.
  • Ability to work a hybrid schedule from our office in New York.
