About The Position

We have an exciting opportunity for a Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Inspector at our growing facility in Columbus, Georgia. Columbus Forge, a recognized leader in producing disks and airfoils for the aerospace propulsion market, is looking for dedicated individuals to support our organization. This position is available on 2nd Shift (weekday afternoon through early morning hours). There is a Shift - Premium associated in the compensation package for this role. Note: Final work schedules are determined by the business in its sole discretion. The company reserves the right to modify shift times, days, or hours at any time, with or without notice.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Background in Quality Inspection, or Background in a NDT Methods, or strong education within the STEM fields, OR a working background in aerospace manufacturing environment with a concentration in engineering quality, process controls OR previously passed an NDT Class with a certificate
  • Must be able to obtain NDT Level 2 Certification within designated timeframe as required by Pratt & Whitney (This is part of the on-the-job, paid training program.)
  • Ability to work overtime as needed

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ year of experience in a quality & aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and quality procedures.
  • Understanding of internal and external customer requirements with a high attention to detail in resolving findings.
  • Knowledge of Matec and IRT Ultrasonic systems.
  • Good organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Implement related training and/or education in Quality processes or its equivalent, including on the job training in NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) inspection techniques.
  • Utilize working knowledge of Matec and IRT Ultrasonic systems.
  • Complete classroom theory, On-The -Job Training) OJT and certification examination as required by Pratt & Whitney NDT qualifications (800 hours on the job training)
  • Re-certification will occur at intervals specified by Pratt & Whitney qualifications.
  • Perform Ultrasonic Inspections using IRT or Matec Systems.
  • Perform daily walk around of equipment, maintain cleanliness of inspection area and be capable of troubleshooting equipment issues
  • Responsible for Analyzing Computer Generated Data and signing off product Inspections.
  • Set-up requirements per work instructions and report performance goals.
  • Conduct Ultrasonic inspection functions in a manufacturing environment
  • Perform quality review metallurgical dispositions following procedures as required
  • Work with Material Control Lab and manufacturing personnel to investigate problems encountered through inspection and determine their effect upon the part
  • Understand internal and external customer requirements with a high attention to detail in resolving findings
  • Responsible for signing-off product inspected
  • Read and decipher detailed Engineering Blue Prints.
  • Read and use precision measurement devices, and keep detailed records.
  • Must be able to visually inspect and decipher a detailed color pallet with precision and accuracy, with or without reasonable accommodation
