About The Position

Sierra Technologies is seeking Non-Certified Pharmacy Technicians in support of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacy (CMOP) contract. This position will be based at the CMOP facility in Ladson, South Carolina. The Non-Certified Pharmacy Technician will assist pharmacists in the preparation, packaging, and dispensing of medications while ensuring accuracy, safety, and compliance with VA, CMOP, and federal standards. This position plays a vital role in supporting the timely and efficient delivery of prescription medications to Veterans nationwide.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Basic computer and typing skills.
  • Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English per 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d).
  • Must meet all VA background and access requirements.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 150 pounds using carts or pallet jacks.
  • Ability to stand for 8–10 hours and perform repetitive motions, including reaching and stooping.
  • Visual acuity sufficient to read computer screens and operate scanning equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in mail-order, hospital, or VA/DoD pharmacy operations.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy automation equipment and inventory systems.

Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists with preparing, packaging, labeling, and dispensing medications.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records of medication processing and dispensing.
  • Package, label, and distribute medication doses according to CMOP and VA procedures.
  • Maintain and monitor inventory levels; stock shelves, rotate stock, and check expiration dates.
  • Accurately process and prepare prescription orders for pharmacist verification, including Controlled Substances, TCA replenishment, and manual hand-count stations.
  • Operate and monitor various pharmacy automation systems, including Autofill devices, Baker Cells, Kalish Cells, A-frames, repackaging equipment, and electronic scales.
  • Read from computer screens and use scanning equipment to select the correct drugs/products based on name, strength, and National Drug Code (NDC) number.
  • Perform first-level preventive maintenance on automated systems, including cleaning, vacuuming, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety regulations, and quality assurance protocols.
  • Handle hazardous materials and hazardous waste in compliance with VA, CMOP, and federal safety standards.
  • Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA, data security, and confidentiality requirements.
