About The Position

The Non CDL Truck Driver will safely operate a heavy-duty truck and is responsible for preparing, loading, and transporting large intermodal containers from the intermodal rail facility to the landfill working face. This role operates in off-road conditions and may operate in tight overhead environments, requiring highly skilled backing maneuvers. The driver will coordinate the movement of materials with the rail foreman and Landfill Operations. Requirements

  • 1 year of experience operating a truck or military driving within the last 7 years
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Legally eligible to work in the country where the position is located
  • Able to read, write, and speak English well enough to interact with the public, understand traffic signs, respond to official questions, and complete records or reports

Responsibilities

  • Operates vehicle in accordance with WM Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA, and all local, municipal, state, and federal laws.
  • Positions and/or returns intermodal containers on the rail/truck in a manner that ensures the container is safe and secure.
  • Performs pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned equipment and documents checks on standard DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report).
  • Immediately reports any unsafe situations or service related issues to Manager or Supervisor.
  • Attends and participates in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings required by WM or Facility Manager.
  • Works closely with Facility Managers to improve efficiencies and identify best practices.
  • Notifies Manager of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
  • Notifies Manager of operational issues or potential safety hazards.
  • Identifies and reports all containers in need of repair or replacement.
  • Reads, understands, and applies information such as lockout/tagout procedures, safety rules, job hazard analyses, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Anticipates typical problems, identifies potential or recurring problems, and takes appropriate action.
  • Troubleshoots equipment and assists in diagnosing problem areas.
  • Communicates clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing; as well as communicates clearly whether via two-way radio or face to face.
  • Performs all duties as scheduled by Manager.
