About The Position

Hajoca Corporation is a large, privately-held wholesale distributor of plumbing, heating & cooling, and industrial supplies. Welker-McKee, a trade name of Hajoca, is seeking a Non-CDL Delivery Driver for their Cleveland, OH location. This role is ideal for someone who is friendly, customer-service oriented, detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and enjoys working independently. The position involves operating trucks safely, loading and unloading merchandise, ensuring order accuracy, collecting payments, resolving discrepancies, and performing vehicle inspections.

Requirements

  • Be able to drive a vehicle over 10,000 lbs.
  • Be at least 21 years old.
  • Possess a proper and valid driver’s license.
  • Have a driving record that meets the criteria for being an Authorized Driver.
  • Be able to pass a Department of Transportation physical examination before beginning work and at least every two years.
  • Know the laws, rules and regulations governing driving motor vehicles, especially commercial motor vehicles subject to Department of Transportation regulations.
  • Know of, be able to apply, and practice safety precautions in a warehouse and material handling environment.
  • Be able to build and maintain a positive working relationship with customers, vendors and co-workers.
  • Be able to remain calm and function effectively in stressful, unexpected, and/or emergency situations.
  • Be able to learn to operate warehouse material-handling equipment.
  • Be able to learn and operate the computer related systems used in the delivery process.
  • Read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Responsibilities

  • Operate trucks safely and in compliance with Company rules, applicable laws, and regulations, delivering to various destinations.
  • Load the truck with Hajoca merchandise, ensuring proper securing of the load.
  • Understand shipping documents and have accurate directions to delivery destinations.
  • Review shipping documentation and ensure order accuracy.
  • Unload correct merchandise and place it as directed by the customer.
  • Obtain legible signatures for all delivered merchandise.
  • Collect and secure outstanding payments for cash sale deliveries.
  • Work with customers at the delivery site to resolve shipping discrepancies.
  • Load the truck with merchandise from vendor locations, customer returns, and other wholesalers.
  • Provide sales leads by noting prospective customer names and addresses.
  • Inspect the truck and required parts for safe operating condition before departure.
  • Keep the truck clean.
  • Advise management of any mechanical problems with the truck.
  • Complete the Driver’s Daily Vehicle Inspection Report for vehicles over 10,001 lbs. GVWR if a defect is found.
  • Remove keys from the truck at the end of the workday and store them in the approved location.
  • Successfully complete required safety and compliance training programs.
  • Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned.
