In Apple Acoustics we work with the utmost attention to detail, directly impacting the design of products that millions of people around the world love! Our Noise & Vibration team contributes to hardware design, validation, and troubleshooting to minimize distracting audible noises and optimize their sound quality. This validation includes reducing noise picked up by internal microphones and thereby improve quality of audio features. We are a diverse team of acoustics and vibration experts, accomplished listeners, and creative problem solvers. We work daily with multifunctional teams on innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges. We are looking for a Senior Noise & Vibration Engineer to join our team. Could this be you?

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Acoustics or equivalent field.
  • 2-5 years minimum experience in high-volume product development.
  • Experience in acoustic design validation.
  • Experience in vibration mitigation design.

Nice To Haves

  • Fundamental knowledge of how voltage potential and current can lead to vibration.
  • Knowledge of acoustics and vibration principles and how motion of mechanical systems turns into radiated noise.
  • Good understanding of electrical-acoustic transducers, and how they are impacted by external physical phenomenon.
  • Acoustic and vibration measurement skills with experience making low noise measurements in anechoic/hemi-anechoic chambers.
  • Accomplished listener with excellent hearing over the audible frequency range.
  • Creative problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced multi-tasking environment.
  • Ability to learn new coding languages and navigate datasets.
  • Good understanding of magnetics and how force can be generated in a complex magnetic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Author SOPs, test plans, and specifications.
  • Quantify noises, facilitate user studies, and establish thresholds in lab and factory environments.
  • Educate multi-functional teams to implement known standard methodologies and run studies to learn new best practices.
  • Analyze validation work to better understand root causes of various problems.
  • Support and drive technology initiatives focused on projects.
  • Work closely with partner facilities overseas.
