About The Position

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Noise Vibration and Harshness Engineer Level 2/3 with thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluid flow knowledge for the development and ongoing support of new and existing turbines, bearings, heat exchangers, and other system components used in surface ship and submarine propulsion and power generation systems for the US Navy based out of Sunnyvale, CA. Our Sunnyvale site specializes in the development, manufacture, assembly and testing of propulsion and power generation systems for naval surface ships and submarines. The candidate selected will apply their skills to support current and future Navy Power & Propulsion Turbomachinery development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 2 years related experience; or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) discipline with no related experience (for Level 2).
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 5 years related experience; or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 3 years related experience. or PhD in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) discipline with no related experience (for Level 3).
  • Comprehensive understanding of sound generation and acoustics transmission through space/materials.
  • Experience in acoustic test/measurement, data processing, and analysis.
  • Must be a US citizen
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD secret security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Active Secret clearance.
  • Master's degree or higher in Aerospace, Mechanical, or a closely related engineering discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and integrate acoustic reduction technologies.
  • Develop and implement predictive analysis codes; builds and tests physical models; designs, develops, and builds test and verification equipment; and develops, tests, and integrates acoustic solutions.
  • Conduct planning and “roadmapping” for the development of novel acoustics technologies and innovative designs.
  • Works closely with other disciplines to optimize the integration of acoustic technologies.
