About The Position

Lovelace Medical Group is seeking a Nocturnist Critical Care Nurse Practitioner to join their team in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This role involves providing clinical care to critically ill post-operative thoracic surgical patients in the ICU. The Nurse Practitioner will manage a complex patient population in collaboration with intensivists and cardiothoracic surgeons, order labs and diagnostic studies, arrange referrals, and communicate effectively with physicians and medical staff. The position requires comfort with procedures such as bronchoscopy, central venous access, arterial catheter placement, and thoracentesis. The provider will also be responsible for explaining medical procedures and plans of care to patients and attending departmental meetings and professional training sessions. Adherence to HIPAA and internal medicine laws is also required.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program
  • Two years of clinical experience in related field

Nice To Haves

  • Certification Board for Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification ACNPC desired but not required
  • Experience with CABG valve replacement heart lung transplant and ECMO desired

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical care to patients in accordance with regulations to include but not limited to obtaining patient history ordering labs diagnostic studies and arranging referrals
  • Refer patient to medical specialist or other providers when necessary
  • Caring for the critically ill post operative thoracic surgical patients in the ICU
  • Responsible for management of complex patient population in collaboration with intensivists and cardiothoracic surgeons
  • Comfortable with procedures including bronchoscopy central venous access arterial catheter placement and thoracentesis
  • Communicate effectively with physicians and medical staff in coordinated care
  • Uphold excellent bedside manners and ability to create a great patient experience
  • Ability to explain medical procedures and plan of care to patients
  • Attends departmental meetings and professional training sessions as requested
  • Adherence and knowledge of laws to internal medicine including HIPAA
