As a Systems Administrator you will help ensure today is safe and tomorrow is smarter. Our work depends on Systems Administrator joining our team to perform systems and server administration tasks including day-to-day user/group administration, security permissions, group policies, print services. Assists in the build, implementation, test, maintenance, and decommissioning of site systems within the network. Provides resource monitoring and analysis to ensure system architecture components are integrated and performing as intended. Monitors site datacenter performance using analytic tools. Provides technical analysis and leverages systems administration knowledge to review anomalies, capacity utilization, database performance, bulletins, event logs, and alerts within the network infrastructure. Installs and maintains system monitoring, analysis, and reporting tools. HOW A SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT ● Manages the functionality and efficiency of a group of servers running on one or more operating systems ● Ability to operate under supervision ● Execute day-to-day management and operations of systems used for network operations and security ● Manage COTS & GOTS products to collect, display and remediate a variety of automated system security and system operations/performance functions ● Follow Operations and Maintenance (O&M) checklists to maintain the service (daily, weekly, monthly, yearly O&M checklists); build Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) associated with service checklists ● Initiate change requests, participate in change control and configuration management processes, schedule authorized service interruption windows when requires; assist NOC in optimizing redundancy and maximizing availability of downstream network management capabilities ● Use monitoring tools/capabilities with the enterprise security information and event management (SIEM) to manage and assist in creating/tailoring complex event alarms/rules and summary reports reflecting operational and security metrics ● Assist in analyzing technical risk, upon request, of emerging network management and security systems, tools and processes ● Work as part of a security incident response team as needed ● Maintains systems to meet Enterprise Service Availability and Service Level Agreement requirements. ● Utilizes IT Service Management (ITSM) Principles to identify, categorize, prioritize, escalate, troubleshoot, and resolve incidents. ● Maintains systems security and ensures compliance with security policies and procedures. ● Assists with the development of third-party monitoring actions and procedures for network infrastructure ● Assists system engineers and architects with buildout and upgrade of GDIT NOC and network management capabilities

Requirements

  • Technical Training, Certification(s) or Degree
  • 1+ years of related experience
  • Must meet DOW 8140 requirements and be eligible at the Intermediate Proficiency level access upon hire for positions with elevated privileges.
  • Requirements include possessing and maintaining Security Plus CE.
  • Additional specific certifications may be required, depending on job assignment.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving and collaborative skills
  • Secret Security Clearance
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and multi-task while still ensuring high quality of work.
  • Experience working directly with hardware vendors involved in the incident resolution process.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with STIG patching, compliance, and other security activities
  • NOC/SOC operations background – you've been in the trenches and know what works
  • Ability to travel a few times per year to assist in installation or upgrades of network management and security capabilities at downstream network locations if remote support is not possible.
