About The Position

This is a temporary staff position working with Dr. De Lee in the Observatory. This position provides technical support for the NKU Observatory.

Requirements

• Must have completed the NKU class AST 310 Observational Techniques with an A
• Be familiar with computer programming especially in Python
• Be able to work well both independently and with direction
• Be able to work with basic hand tools
• Be able to diagnose technical problems and develop solutions

Responsibilities

• Maintaining the NKU 14-inch telescope and observatory laptop
• Commissioning the new Photometric Camera for the NKU 14-inch telescope
• Maintaining the Primary Instruments for the NKU 14-inch telescope (Photometric Camera and Spectroscopic System)
• Developing new procedures and techniques for using the NKU 14-inch telescope and its instruments
• Working on upgrades to the current NKU 14-inch telescope and its instruments
