About The Position

The NIH Immunology Fellow position is an entry-level role within the KYCOM Division, Academic Affairs Department. The fellow will gain experience in various research techniques and methodologies, including assisting with organ harvesting, performing histological examinations, conducting molecular biology experiments, and aiding in data collection and analysis. This role requires strong analytical and data visualization skills, with a track record of presentations to scientific and other audiences being a key competency.

Requirements

  • Basic laboratory training and experience, including knowledge of research techniques and methodologies
  • Strong analytical and data visualization skills
  • Maintain 75% average grades with no course failures
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Social Media & New Technology, Research-related Technology

Responsibilities

  • Assist with organ harvesting from body donors in Gross Anatomy Laboratory
  • Perform histological examination of thymic and splenic tissues
  • Perform molecular biology experiments (DNA/RNA isolation and analysis)
  • Assist with data collection and analysis
  • Track record of presentations to scientific and other audiences
