About The Position

Manitoulin Transport is seeking a Night Time Dock Worker to join their team. This role involves unloading freight from trailers and loading outbound trailers using electronic devices. The successful candidate will be responsible for marking materials, recording distribution, and ensuring conformance to bills of lading. They will also start heaters, placard trailers, and arrange freight for maximum trailer space utilization. A key aspect of this role is maintaining the safety and cleanliness of the warehouse.

Requirements

  • Forklift Certificate and Forklift experience needed.
  • Developed problem-solving, critical thinking, decision-making, and judgment skills.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs, sometimes repetitive.
  • Ability to multitask and manage various tasks successfully.
  • Ability to operate our internal computer systems.

Nice To Haves

  • WHIMS/Dangerous Goods Certificate (These items are covered within in-house training programs).
  • Knowledge of AS400 system an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Unload freight from trailers and load outbound trailers using electronic devices.
  • Mark materials with identifying information.
  • Record amounts of materials or items received or distributed.
  • Count and, on occasion, weigh items to ensure conformance to the shipper's bill of lading.
  • Start heaters, placard trailers as required.
  • Arrange freight in specified sequence for maximum usage of trailer space.
  • Take an active role in safety and maintenance of the warehouse by sweeping the floor, properly storing dunnage, etc.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
