About The Position

The Night Stock Manager at Hy-Vee is responsible for setting department standards for customer service, employee relations, cleanliness, sanitation, professional appearance, and overall profitability. This role involves supervising Night Stock employees and ensuring that trucks are unloaded and merchandise is stocked and stored in an appropriate and orderly manner. The position emphasizes a positive and friendly atmosphere, excellent customer service, and efficient operations during the night shift.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Three to five years of similar or related work experience.
  • Ability to solve practical problems with a variety of variables and limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret instructions.
  • Ability to solve arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  • Ability to compose original correspondence.
  • Ability to interpret written work instructions.
  • Ability to interview job applicants.
  • Ability to follow technical manuals.
  • Increased contact with people.
  • Must be able to physically perform heavy work, including exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and in excess of 100 pounds of force to move objects.
  • Visual requirements include the ability to see detail at near range with or without correction.
  • Must be physically able to perform sedentary work: occasionally lifting or carrying objects of no more than 10 pounds, and occasionally standing or walking, reaching, handling, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
  • Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

  • Sets department standards for customer service, employee relations, cleanliness, sanitation, professional appearance, and overall profitability.
  • Supervises Night Stock employees, assigning work duties and holding consultations.
  • Ensures trucks are unloaded and merchandise is stocked and stored in an appropriate and orderly manner.
  • Orders products from the warehouse and other suppliers, preparing pre-orders and coordinating with assistant managers.
  • Supervises and directs assistant managers, departments, and custodian crews.
  • Coordinates the CARS system, including setup, inventory, reordering triggers, maintenance, and order generation.
  • Unloads trucks, breaks down pallets, and sorts items.
  • Checks in vendor deliveries piece by piece.
  • Supervises drop shipment and direct store deliveries.
  • Writes schedules for the night stock crew, monitoring time-off, vacation, and sick requests.
  • Reviews and monitors weekly overtime hours.
  • Trains new employees on stocking, ordering, and other department procedures.
  • Trains supervisors on handling registers, customer service, and department services.
  • Monitors productivity and reviews performance with crew members.
  • Understands and troubleshoots store equipment, including electrical systems, cash registers, coolers, and compressors.
  • Maintains strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress.
  • Adheres to company policies and individual store guidelines.
  • Runs back stock and understock, fills holes as needed.
  • Assists with customer service, including checkout, checking, sacking, carry-outs, and handling customer issues.
  • Meets with crew members weekly or as needed.
  • Sets and resets new items, tags, and prices as needed.
  • Sets in-store specials and adjusts prices accordingly.
  • Supervises produce and frozen food truck unloading, ensuring proper storage.
  • Assists in other areas of the store as needed.
  • Performs other job-related duties and special projects as required.
  • Selects new employees and addresses employee problems.
  • Recommends transferring, promoting, disciplining, and discharging employees, along with salary increases.
