About The Position

The Night Shift Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for understanding mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic drawings, maintaining a clean and safe work area, and troubleshooting equipment issues. This role involves assisting in capital projects, operating heavy equipment, maintaining parts inventory, and working with vendors. The mechanic will complete preventative maintenance and work orders, ensuring adherence to standard work procedures. Safety is paramount, requiring the mechanic to contribute to a safe work environment, identify and mitigate hazards, and complete all required safety trainings, including LOTO. Quality is also critical, with an emphasis on checking and rechecking work to meet standards. This position requires constant attention to job activities and surroundings, and the ability to perform all job requirements with or without reasonable accommodations.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in mechanical field.
  • Minimum 3 years maintenance experience preferred.
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems.
  • Understanding of Diesel engines.
  • Understanding of electrical operations of heavy equipment.
  • Entry level computer experience (ERP system, etc.).
  • Loader license or loader certification class.
  • Fork truck license or fork truck training class.
  • Completion of all in house training.
  • Expertise in use of power and hand tools, welding, plumbing/pipefitting required.
  • Experience in maintaining gear boxes, chains, sprockets, bearings, shafts, motors, valves, and field devices such as photo eyes and limit switches.
  • Trouble shoot using a multimeter.
  • Position is required to have constant attention to activities of the job as well as the people and activities around the operator.

Responsibilities

  • Understanding of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic drawings.
  • Maintain a clean and safe maintenance work area.
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as required.
  • Ability to trouble shoot equipment (electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and Mechanical).
  • Assist in capital projects including constructions, fabrications, and installation of equipment.
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment.
  • Maintain Loaders, industrial fork trucks, Company fleet vehicles, etc.
  • Maintain parts inventory for equipment.
  • Works with Vendors on equipment issues and/or parts.
  • Ability to complete preventative maintenance and work orders assigned.
  • Notifies Team Leads if standard work cannot be followed.
  • Must wear Safety Glasses, ear plugs, and area/job function appropriate gloves.
  • TPMs are a part of every position in the mill. This may include mandatory overtime for completion of TPM tasks.
  • Ability to lift a minimum 50 lbs. Occasional exertions of 100lbs. of force.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Works with others to identify, eliminate, reduce, or control safety hazards.
  • LOTO and other plant specific trainings to keep oneself safe must be done.
  • Take steps to ensure that every job is safe and completed to the latest workplace safety regulations, laws, and requirements.
  • Check and Recheck work to make sure all parts are up to par with standards and work as they should.
