Night Shift Lead — 3D Printed Footwear Production
About The Position
Zellerfeld is revolutionizing the footwear industry with the world’s first 3D-printing technology for fully customizable shoes. Our goal is simple: printed shoes on every foot. This role will own the night shift, leading the production team, maintaining printer uptime and output quality, and acting as the main point of contact between the floor and operations management. You'll be expected to solve problems in real time, support your team's development, and help drive continuous improvements to our SOPs and workflows.
Requirements
- Safety-first mindset: You model and enforce safety standards at all times
- Experience in a production, manufacturing, or warehouse environment; prior lead or supervisory experience preferred
- Comfortable operating machinery and troubleshooting basic equipment issues
- Strong attention to detail and quality. You notice when something's off before it becomes a problem
- Clear communicator. You give direct feedback, document findings, and keep management informed
- Reliable, punctual, and calm under pressure. You set the tone for your team
- Willing to work nights, including some weekends
- Based in Austin, TX or nearby
Nice To Haves
- Experience with 3D printing or additive manufacturing is a plus — not required
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate a team of production associates across printing, post-processing, washing, drying, finishing, and shipping
- Operate and monitor 3D printing and post-processing equipment, escalating issues quickly and minimizing downtime
- Maintain and improve key production metrics including printer uptime, output quality, and shift efficiency
- Conduct quality checks on finished footwear and ensure defects are flagged, documented, and communicated to QC
- Follow and contribute to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) — identifying gaps and recommending improvements
- Assign tasks, manage shift coverage, and support team members with training and real-time guidance
- Keep the production floor clean, safe, and organized throughout the shift
- Hand off clearly to the next shift lead; documenting status, open issues, and priorities
