About The Position

Thermal Corporation is seeking an experienced and motivated Night Shift Assembly Lead to oversee the assembly and fabrication of custom air handling units (AHUs). This hands-on leadership role is responsible for leading a small team of assemblers while ensuring products are built accurately, safely, and efficiently according to engineered drawings, specifications, and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical assembly experience, the ability to interpret engineering drawings and fabrication documents, and proven success leading production teams in a manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years of mechanical assembly or manufacturing experience.
  • 1+ years of leadership, lead, or supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineered drawings, blueprints, and assembly documentation.
  • Experience building products directly from engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and assembly equipment.
  • Ability to identify and resolve assembly and quality issues.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a manufacturing environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience assembling custom air handling units, HVAC equipment, or similar industrial products.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, HVAC systems, or industrial equipment assembly.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices.
  • Forklift and overhead crane experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a small team of assemblers during night shift operations.
  • Interpret engineered drawings, blueprints, schematics, bills of materials (BOMs), and assembly instructions to guide construction of custom air handling units.
  • Coordinate daily work assignments and ensure production schedules are met.
  • Assemble and oversee the assembly of structural frames, panels, coils, fans, dampers, electrical components, and other AHU components.
  • Verify that all assemblies are built according to engineering specifications and quality requirements.
  • Conduct in-process inspections and final quality checks to ensure workmanship and product compliance.
  • Train, mentor, and develop team members on assembly techniques, safety procedures, and company standards.
  • Troubleshoot assembly issues and work with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to resolve problems.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and productive work environment.
  • Monitor material usage and communicate shortages or production concerns to management.
  • Ensure compliance with all company safety policies and manufacturing procedures.
  • Complete production reports and shift documentation as required.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement initiatives.
