About The Position

We are currently looking for a Night Security Guard to provide security and safety for the guests, staff, and the hotel during the day. The Night Security Guard is responsible for patrolling all areas of the property and assisting guests with room access if required during the shift and must be able to monitor Closed Circuit Televisions (CCTV), perimeter alarm systems, duress alarms, and fire & life safety systems. The Night Security Guard will maintain a safe and secure environment for customers and employees by patrolling and monitoring the premises after business hours. Working with the General Manager, the security guard will participate in all security and safety practices within the hotel to maximize Colleague, Guest, and Owner satisfaction.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years related experience and/or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Quick, critical decision-making.
  • Be familiar with all safety systems, security plans and procedures of the hotel, WCB and OH&S regulations.
  • Clear knowledge and understanding of the security function.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to write clear and legible reports.
  • Ability to take control of emergency situations with tact and diplomacy.
  • Effective conflict resolution and sound decision making skills.

Responsibilities

  • Secure premises by patrolling property; inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points.
  • Prevent losses and damage by reporting irregularities.
  • Complete reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities in the logbook.
  • Call the Police or Fire Department in case of emergency, such as fire or the presence of unauthorized persons.
  • Monitor property through foot patrols and watching security footage and observe, report, and follow up on safety and security concerns.
  • Respond to and manage all emergencies including fire, medicals, and any potential threats to people or property.
  • Maintain order in the hotel, including the on-site staff accommodations.
  • Follow protocols and the law when responding to situations involving drugs and alcohol.
  • Document through written reports all incidents, events, and actions taken.
  • Follow up and investigate complaints and incidents.
  • Assist other departments as necessary.
  • Authorized to make any decisions necessary to effectively deal with security concerns and/or emergency situations.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
