About The Position

Prairie Farms, Sioux Falls SD is seeking a Night Order Picker/Loader. This role performs a variety of duties in loading, unloading, and moving materials within or near plant, yard, or work site. The position involves stationary machine operation with low responsibility, including palletizing products, loading, and checking. The rate of pay is $22.24 base rate plus $1.05 premiums. The schedule is from 6:00 PM to 4:30 AM on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights. Requirements

  • Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • May have exposure to allergens.
  • Willing to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends and holidays.
  • Able to effectively work in a team environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to work in an environment where temperature is maintained at 35-40 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Must be able to sit and/or stand and drive for virtually the entire shift.
  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull 50 lbs through the entire shift.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 6 months related in manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to pass all preemployment screens (including drug, background and criminal checks).

  • Experience within the food and beverage industry preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Picking orders, palletizing, loading and unloading products and/or cases, and working any assigned station or line.
  • Working anywhere in the Loadout/Freezer/Cooler areas as assigned.
  • Picking products for customer orders.
  • Performing freight handling using appropriate motorized and manual equipment (when certified).
  • Using a hand-held tracking device.
  • Marking paperwork properly when making adjustments for product shortages.
  • Keeping accurate records on load sheets, inventory sheets, scrap sheets, and computerized equipment.
  • Ensuring proper code date rotation.
  • Reporting any mechanical problems such as bad wear strips, plugged or missing lube nozzles, spacer stop malfunctions, palletizer malfunctions or conveyor breakdowns.
  • Reporting any product/packaging issues.
  • Maintaining communication with other departments, management and employees and notifying them of any problems and/or concerns that may restrict the efficiency of production.
  • Ensuring all paperwork is filled out in a clear, legible and accurate format, and completed with required information.
  • Ensuring all required information is documented in accordance with SOP’s.
  • Utilizing a continuous improvement mindset, assisting in identifying opportunities to improve processes.
  • Following Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Maintaining a clean, sanitary and safe work area.
  • Following all required work safe practices, including wearing required PPE, confined space safety, safe chemical handling, and fall restraints.
  • Being responsible for food safety, prerequisite programs and food quality related to the designated area.
  • Reporting any food safety and food quality related issues to management immediately.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
