About The Position

As a Night Operator, you will be accountable for the inspection, operation, and maintenance of central production facilities, including treatment, storage, and compression systems, water injection pumps, associated equipment, and utility support systems such as chemical injection units. The role primarily involves working 12-hour overnight shifts on a rotating schedule (e.g., 7 days on / 7 days off). Work is performed independently and is guided by operational priorities related to your area of expertise, designated routes, and assigned geographic areas. This position requires the ability to drive and work alone while traveling throughout your assigned region. Responsibilities include performing operational tasks, troubleshooting equipment, and completing basic maintenance on well pads and lease roads. You will test, monitor, and optimize oil and gas production rates, which requires accurate data collection, analysis, and interpretation. You may act as Magnolia’s on-site representative during third-party service activities within your assigned area and are expected to provide HSER leadership during these operations. A working knowledge of all systems and responsibilities associated with your area of expertise is essential. The role places a strong emphasis on promptly responding to alarms and maintaining production at Magnolia’s highest volume-producing facilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of oil and gas experience; production operations experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of well operations and general maintenance practices.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and operate safely during overnight hours.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools.
  • Experience using operations management systems such as SCADA and Merrick/Evin.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and email.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate safety leadership and ensure full compliance with company safety, environmental, and HSER policies for employees and contractors.
  • Identify operational deficiencies and recommend improvements to procedures to meet performance and compliance standards.
  • Maintain system production rates and optimize well performance.
  • Conduct daily inspections of wells and production facilities to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Verify functionality of safety systems and devices.
  • Perform well testing, monitor production data, and troubleshoot operational issues.
  • Oversee and coordinate equipment repairs and third-party service activities as Magnolia’s on-site representative.
  • Take proactive measures to prevent spills, leaks, and equipment failures.
  • Perform housekeeping and basic site maintenance, including pads and lease roads.
  • Operate and maintain central production, storage, and compression facilities.
  • Train, delegate, and review work performed by lower-level operators as assigned.
  • Interact professionally with landowners and coordinate with Foremen or Landmen when escalation is required.
  • Respond promptly to facility and well-level alarms.
  • Utilize SCADA systems to monitor operations and make informed operational decisions.
  • Review daily production data to ensure accurate reporting of rates and pressures in field data systems.
  • Exercise sound judgment when spending LOE funds within assigned authority.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
