About The Position

The Night Janitor position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and safety of assigned areas within the school district. This role involves following a posted schedule of daily tasks, cleaning and sanitizing various areas including restrooms, managing cleaning supplies, and reporting any necessary repairs or emergencies. The janitor will also be responsible for maintaining building security, proper use of equipment, and participating in special cleaning projects during breaks. Adherence to district policies and procedures is required.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively.
  • Must have the ability to perform the duties required of the position.
  • Must participate in District training on proper cleaning methods and safe use of cleaning supplies.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work alone with limited supervision.
  • Must be able to work on your feet for over 90% of the work day.

  • If applicable, be willing to fill-in in the Plant Manager II's area if asked.

Responsibilities

  • Check in with Plant Manager I or II about specific daily needs/events in the building.
  • Follow buildings' posted schedule of daily work tasks for assigned area.
  • Clean and remove trash in all assigned rooms and areas, including restrooms, according to district cleaning standards.
  • Fill cleaning supplies in areas as needs arise.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms in assigned area.
  • Participate in any special cleaning projects in the building that may be scheduled with the Plant Manager's.
  • Address any repairs needed or issues that need attention to the Plant Manager II.
  • Immediately report any emergencies to the Plant Manager II or the individual in charge.
  • Maintain the safety and security of your assigned area; specifically pay attention to any exterior exits.
  • Report any unauthorized individuals on the premises to the person in charge or call a supervisor.
  • Be willing to fill-in in the Plant Manager II's area if asked.
  • Make sure you fully understand the building security alarm procedures.
  • Work with and care for district cleaning equipment and tools used.
  • Perform specific assigned duties and projects during summer cleaning and other school breaks.
  • Report off to work and submit time off request forms to the Plant Manager I.
  • Abide by the rules, regulations, policies and procedures of The Warren City School District Board of Education.
  • Perform any other relevant duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent, the Executive Director of Business Operations, or his/her designee.
