About The Position

We're seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as a Night Float Worker to cooperate with and provides support and back-up to staff in the group living environment. The Night Float Worker provides over-night support services including; building and grounds safety checks and assists with the participants. The Night Float Worker is responsible to report critical incidents, system or procedure failures, and policy infractions that occur while on shift.

Requirements

  • Completion of a high school diploma.
  • One (1) year of experience working with children, youth, and/or adults with behavioral, cognitive, mental health, and/or developmental challenges.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to complete tasks independently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to form genuine relationships.
  • Emotional competence and self awareness.
  • Ability to display empathy, patience, and understanding in day-to-day interactions.
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to perform maintenance duties and environmental safety inspections.

  • Understands budget and allocation of resources.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Employees must hold a class five (5) novice two (2) or higher drivers license and be eligible for coverage under our commercial auto insurance policy.

  • A certificate, diploma, or degree in child and youth care (CYC) or in a related field of study is an asset.
  • Experience working night shifts is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with and provide support to the residential team.
  • Engage and fully participate with the participants.
  • Provide environmental safety checks and upkeep to the units and the grounds.
  • Support the agency priorities for the supervision of various units based on the needs of the participants.
  • Provide care and support to vulnerable persons with complex needs, behavioral issues, developmental disabilities, mental health disorders, and/or other related issues.
  • Assist with morning routines and activity plans.
  • Assist with established AWOL procedures as required.
  • Provide reports to supervisors pertaining to systems or procedural failures and policy infractions.
  • Resolve conflicts and respond to crisis situations using behavioral management and support methods including conflict resolution, crisis management, and life space interviewing.
  • Complete reports and documentation clearly, accurately, in a timely manner, and within agency standards.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Provide support and guidance to employees as directed by a manager.
  • Display positive role modelling, agency values, and fairness.
  • Collaborate with and communicate to the multidisciplinary team when required.
  • Responsible for nightly inspections, cleaning, and minor general repairs.
  • Submit receipts and reconcile expenses for manager approved expenditures.
  • Ensure vehicle log is completed accurately when agency vehicle is used.
  • Maintain, promote, and reinforce safe work habits, practices, and procedures.
  • Adhere to written or verbal agency and government regulations, policies, practices, and instructions.
  • Complete all mandatory training requirements for the position as per agency policy and guidelines.
