About The Position

The Control Desk Clerk is primarily responsible for all of the functions of the Control Desk to ensure the safety and security of students, staff and campus. The Control Desk Clerk reports to the designated shift supervisor. Establishes the Control Desk as a professional, responsive and effective administrative unit to the site, external agencies and clients and parents. Monitors the functions of the Control Desk at all times, all individuals entering the site, including metal detector compliance, log in and key control and the safe and efficient movement of staff, students and visitors throughout the facility. Handles general daily office activities including but not limited to correspondence, typing, reporting, filing, copies, faxes, incoming and outgoing mail, tours, etc. Answers all incoming calls, radio/intercom transmissions and entry requirements. Receives and dispenses personal keys, facility keys, communication equipment and mechanical restraints. Maintains the vehicle calendar, log books, transport bags and restraint logs, if applicable. Demonstrates knowledge of all Emergency Evacuation plans and policies as well as provides directions to emergency personnel in the event of an emergency. Assists with students in Concerns and Isolation watch, if applicable. Establishes and maintains organizational procedures to ensure effective operations and administrative support. May be required to assist on floor with youth as needed (ratio). Walton Academy is a DJJ residential treatment secured facility treating high-risk male youths (between the ages of 13-19) in a 9-12 month program.

Requirements

  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Be able to pass a criminal background check, drug screen, and TB test
  • Be able to pass a DJJ and DCF background checks
