About The Position

HI Vancouver Jericho Beach is a seasonal hostel, open from May to September, located near parkland with forest trails and seaside paths. The hostel offers a casual, flexible workplace with opportunities for staff to interact with guests. Subsidized housing is available in the staff dorm, and amenities like bikes and sporting goods can be borrowed. This role involves maintaining the cleanliness of the hostel, both interior and exterior, and ensuring a safe and secure environment for guests during nighttime hours. It's a team-oriented position that requires interaction with travelers and a commitment to providing a great guest experience.

Requirements

  • Ability to clean for 6-7 hours each day.
  • Enjoy working as part of a team.

  • Understanding the importance of the Housekeeping department's role in delivering a great guest experience.
  • Successful candidates will be subject to comprehensive background checks, including employment verification, reference checks, educational qualifications verification, and criminal record checks where applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Working 7.5-hour overnight shifts, generally starting around 22:00, reporting to the Housekeeping Supervisor.
  • Ensuring the hostel is kept clean by performing housekeeping duties at night.
  • Maintaining a safe and secure environment for guests during nighttime hours.
  • Cleaning all common areas, washrooms, showers, and hallways to the hostel's standard.
  • Following the hostel cleaning schedule.
  • Communicating regularly with the Housekeeping Supervisor and the Night Auditor to ensure rooms are cleaned as needed.
  • Performing laundry duties, including collecting linens and towels, washing, folding, and putting them away.
