About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated Night Auditor to join our team at the Westin Chattanooga. The Night Auditor plays a crucial role in ensuring guest satisfaction and the smooth operation of the hotel during nighttime hours. The Night Auditor is responsible for processing night audit reporting and overseeing 3rd shift hotel operations, balancing accuracy and outstanding guest service in equal measure. This role responds to and services guest needs throughout the overnight hours while ensuring the daily operations of the hotel are properly balanced. Performs a variety of clerical duties including basic computer work and simple accounting tasks.

  • Must have good cash handling skills, able to make change, manage cash drawer.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English at a professional level; fluency preferred.
  • Some experience working overnight shifts or in a hotel or similar environment required.
  • Must be able to stand/walk for the full 8-hour shift, with scheduled breaks, and work in a restrictive space/environment.
  • Must have eyesight enabling vision both near and far.
  • Finger dexterity to type, to write, and work on a computer.
  • Must speak in a clear, understandable voice, hear at a basic level, and understand spoken and written language.
  • Must be able to bend, stretch arms overhead and lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience as a Night Auditor or in a similar role strongly preferred.
  • Prior accounting or advanced cash handling experience is preferred.
  • Marriott experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Working knowledge of all hotel systems including PBX phone system, key system, PMS reservation systems, and brand-specific training.
  • Ensure front desk operations are carried out within the systems and procedures required by brand-specific standards.
  • Complete all tasks described on the relevant shift checklist during shift.
  • Manage reservations and check-ins to ensure the highest RevPar.
  • Up-sell rooms to walk-in and phone reservations to maximize revenue.
  • Maintain a constant goal of 100% occupancy and 100% guest satisfaction.
  • Record guest preferences in the system.
  • Maintains compliance to all front office standard operating procedures: monitors key control, verifies room status information, updates group information, ensures follow-through of all VIP requests.
  • Respond to guests immediately upon entering the lobby; maintain the 10-5 rule at all times.
  • Balances PMS activity at the end of each shift and daily report as required.
  • Prepare and distribute next-day reports to Front Office, Housekeeping, Sales, and Executive Office.
  • Accurately counts and accounts for cash banks prior to and at the end of each shift, keeping the cash drawer secure and in balance throughout.
  • Never drops a deposit without a witness.
  • Mindful of credit responsibility so that suspicious accounts are immediately noted to ensure effective credit control.
  • Conduct scheduled overnight property walks to ensure safety, cleanliness, and operational readiness.
  • Responsible for the security of guests, fellow employees, and hotel assets — monitoring who enters the building, ensuring doors are locked, working with team members on lock procedures, and making sure fire safety rules are clear to associates and followed appropriately during fire alarms.
  • Must be able to work overnight shifts while remaining fully alert, awake, and friendly with guests at all times, and be available to work other shifts at the front desk as needed.
  • Must have good knowledge of the surrounding area.
  • Assist guest with luggage as needed.
  • Immediately report any guest issues to the Manager on Duty.
  • Does not participate in personal conversations either in person or on telephone or cell phone.
  • Well-groomed and in uniform while on the property.
  • Does not eat, drink, or smoke in sight of a guest.
  • Must perform any other required duties as requested by Supervisor to aid in better operation of the hotel, restaurant, lounge, and service to the guests.
  • Keep confidential the business functions of the company including, but not limited to, top accounts, financial status, customer/guest information, employee issues, etc.
  • Act with the highest level of integrity in every decision.
