About The Position

The Night Auditor is responsible for auditing, balancing, and reporting on various hotel operations such as food and beverage outlets, front desk, and gift shop. This role ensures accurate and timely information is provided, company and hotel policies are followed, and fraud is prevented. The Night Auditor also serves guests in a professional and courteous manner, responding to inquiries about reservations, hotel information, and guest concerns via telephone and in-person.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to operate personal computer, cash register, and calculator.
  • Ability to compile facts and figures.
  • Telephone and guest relations etiquette and skills.
  • Moderate hearing required to communicate with guests.
  • Excellent vision required for viewing of CRT screen.
  • Excellent speech communication skills required to communicate with guests over the telephone.
  • Excellent comprehension and literacy required for reading daily reports, numbers, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Audit, balance, and report on all food and beverage outlets (restaurants, lounges, banquets, room service) cash and credit operations, including checks, over/short figures, deposits, counts, house charges, and postings. Reset registers for accurate information.
  • Audit, balance, post, and report on front desk operations, including room charges, phone calls, zero balance folios, corrections, adjustments, taxes, disputed charges, over/short figures, and deposits, ensuring accuracy and proper cash handling.
  • Audit, balance, and prepare reports on room information to provide management with performance insights.
  • Prepare and input statistics and income journal sheets for daily reports.
  • Balance and close all bank ticket codes daily.
  • Run night audit final after ensuring all revenues are in balance nightly.
  • Greet and process check-ins for arriving guests using manual and computerized methods, ensuring guest satisfaction and requested room types.
  • Facilitate guest departures (check-outs) by following established procedures to close guest accounts and prepare rooms for sale.
  • Maintain good customer relations by staying informed about in-house and area functions to answer guest questions and concerns knowledgeably.
  • Operate PBX equipment, handle incoming and outgoing calls, schedule wake-up calls, and page guests.
  • Perform duties of a Front Desk Clerk, including express checkouts.
