About The Position

The John Rutledge House Inn is seeking a part-time Night Auditor to join their team. This role involves verifying guest folio charges, posting room charges, processing deposits, reconciling credit card charges, and closing the daily batch. As the sole employee on duty overnight, the Night Auditor is also responsible for providing concierge, bell, and housekeeping services, assisting guests with check-in/check-out, reservation calls, and other issues. The position requires a strong understanding of Southern hospitality and a commitment to maintaining the inn's reputation for opulence and intimacy.

Requirements

  • Must be available to work every other Friday and Saturday from 11pm - 7am
  • Comfortable working alone without any assistance
  • Able to positively interact with guests in a cordial and congenial manner
  • Detail-oriented and able to catch any errors or discrepancies in the computer system
  • Organization is a key aspect of the job
  • Familiarity with Windows operating system, Microsoft Office products, email, and multi-line phone systems required

Nice To Haves

  • Previous hotel or audit experience is preferred
  • Familiarity with Charleston restaurants and events is also preferred

Responsibilities

  • Completing all steps of the night audit process
  • Compiling and collating all night audit reports and paperwork and delivering paperwork to necessary parties
  • Preparing coffee service, collecting breakfast cards, delivering newspapers, and preparing paperwork for the morning concierge
  • Answering all incoming phone calls and assisting as necessary, including taking room reservations
  • Making appropriate recommendations for tours or restaurants
  • Handling all steps of the check-in and check-out process, both as concierge and bell
  • Creating the housekeeping sheet from assignments sent by the housekeeping manager
  • Responsible for the security of the building including the ability to handle fire alarm procedures and non-guests not welcomed during night hours
  • Ensuring all public spaces are clean and orderly before the end of the shift
  • Informing relevant staff of any potential problems that must be handled during the daytime
  • Sending out an end-of-shift report for all front desk and management staff
