About The Position

The Night Auditor is responsible for balancing and auditing room revenue, food and beverage revenue for accuracy, and assists in the preparation of all reports relevant to daily revenues. This role also prepares various audit worksheets and Daily Flash Reports. The Night Auditor assumes responsibilities of the Manager on Duty from midnight until the morning shift arrives, logs guest complaints, and handles guest check-ins and check-outs. They balance and audit room and tax charges, cashier reports, and guest and house accounts. The position involves completing and transmitting daily management and accounting reports, preparing customer tracking reports, market segmentation reports, and food and beverage revenue reports to ensure accurate accounting of hotel revenues and expenses. Communication with other hotel departments is necessary to resolve discrepancies and exchange information. The Night Auditor performs Guest Service Representative functions, may assist with room reservations and answering phone calls, and ensures the security of department keys. They respond quickly to guest requests, follow up on guest satisfaction, and handle confidential information with integrity. Daily deposits are made as applicable. Responsibilities include verifying room charges and rates, ensuring the register has appropriate starting cash, and managing daily paperwork such as occupancy reports, guest lists, cash drawer summaries, balance sheets, account summaries, history files, and housekeeping reports. Reports are submitted to the corporate office as appropriate. The role monitors room availability, blocks rooms, handles guest requests, and performs regular security walks. A thorough knowledge of emergency procedures is required. The Night Auditor prepares and replenishes continental breakfast items and may perform laundry functions. They may be required to make management decisions in the manager's absence, maintain a professional appearance, and follow company policies and procedures.
