About The Position

The Night Auditor is responsible for recording, processing, and analyzing the day's closing figures. This role ensures all required reports are completed and that daily credit transactions are in balance. Additionally, the Night Auditor attends to guest needs, including registration, checkout, cashiering, and making wake-up calls.

Requirements

  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language used in the workplace.
  • Requires good communication skills, verbal, written and electronic.
  • Considerable knowledge of complex mathematical calculations and computer programs.
  • Must have excellent leadership capability and customer relations skills.
  • Must be detail oriented with outstanding organizational and communication skills.
  • Must possess basic computer skills.
  • Must possess basic computational ability.
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy and collect accurate information to resolve conflicts.
  • Knowledgeable about basic function of Windows OS, MS Office, PMS, PBX, Key system and POS.
  • Self-driven and able to work independently.
  • Exceptionally strong in issue resolution and proven analytical skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • High school or equivalent education required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the hospitality industry preferred.
  • Experience in a front desk or customer service role preferred.
  • Accounting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as the Manager on Duty during the night-time hours.
  • Greets and welcomes guests upon arrival.
  • Performs guest registration and check-out procedures.
  • Accepts payment for guest accounts.
  • Maintains a house bank and makes daily deposits and accurate reports of receipts.
  • Cashes checks and exchanges currency for guests.
  • Accurately handles cash transactions and balances a cash drawer.
  • Acknowledges rewards members and returning guests.
  • Takes and manages guest bookings, up-selling opportunities, and informs guests about ways to improve their stay.
  • Handles cash and credit transactions.
  • Handles all guest inquiries and requests courteously and professionally.
  • Performs all audit procedures daily as set forth by the hotel and company.
  • Completes Daily Report, Comp Reports (including F&B and Rooms), Pace Reports, and any other assigned reporting.
  • Balances all cash receipts and work performed during the audit shift.
  • Makes deposits of cash.
  • Prepares the front office for the AM Shift and resets the day's business.
  • Maintains all nightly reports to inform hotel management of overnight activities/incidents.
  • Acts as PBX operator during the audit shift, transmitting and receiving messages.
  • Ensures all wake-up calls are made in a timely fashion.
  • Assists/directs hotel guests and/or emergency personnel in case of an emergency.
  • Posts charges such as room, food, liquor, or telephone.
  • Makes restaurant, transportation, or entertainment reservations for guests.
  • Reviews current day's arrival reports.
  • Checks all special request reservations to ensure proper blocking, VIP identification, correct billing setup, deposit collection, and notification to other departments.
  • Attends all scheduled training, departmental, and hotel meetings.
  • Ensures awareness of special promotions, daily activities, arriving VIPs, groups/conferences in-house, special requests, and scheduled shuttles.
  • Practices safe work habits and ensures safe work practices to avoid injury.
  • Ensures all privacy and security protocols are followed.
  • Answers inquiries pertaining to hotel policies, services, registration, shopping, dining, entertainment, and travel directions.
  • Maintains extensive knowledge of the hotel, its services, and facilities, as well as general knowledge of the city and its attractions.
  • Maintains lobby cleanliness and organization.
  • Assists in booking reservations.
  • Assists with handling mail, packages, facsimiles, and guest items.
  • Performs other duties assigned by manager or supervisor.
  • Assists with any guest inquiry.
  • Reports maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries.
