About The Position

This will be a unit based position supporting patient care by insuring cleanliness of and upkeep of equipment and supplies, thus creating a safe environment for the delivery of patient care. Performs a variety of functions to prepare and maintain equipment and supplies as needed by the unit staff. Set up patient care rooms for admissions, cleans patient care equipment as dictated by department policy, assists with patient transport. Restocks equipment as needed. Maintains par level of equipment. Reports defective equipment or deficiencies in supply, enters intranet requests as necessary. The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is a 76-bed unit designed for the individualized care of critically ill newborns and their families from admission to discharge. These infants are admitted from a diverse geographical area for specialized medical and/ or surgical needs. These infants and families are cared for by a unique blend of interdisciplinary caregivers: neonatal nurses, neonatal nurse practitioners, lactation consultants, human milk technicians, physicians, OT/PT and speech therapists, respiratory care practitioners, social workers, pharmacists, dieticians and internal case managers.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED)
  • Requires the level of technical knowledge normally acquired through completion of high school
  • Requires analytical skills in order to identify problems, troubleshoot and find the most efficient solutions to problems.
  • Possess effective interpersonal and communication skills necessary to interact courteously and tactfully with patients, parents/families and members of the health care team
  • The ability to represent the organization and serve consumers in a professional manner and promote a positive image of the organization and its services.
  • Possess willingness and initiative to successfully complete educational requirements and develop and learn new skills as required by the unit.
  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/National Safety Council
