This is a part-time, 24-hour per week position for a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse (RN) working night shifts (7p-7a). The role involves engaging in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives to improve care processes and apply evidence-based practices. The NICU RN utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care, actively involving patients and families throughout the continuum of care. Key responsibilities include monitoring patient conditions, adjusting care plans, mobilizing resources, and collaborating with the care team to achieve positive care outcomes. The position requires upholding a culture of safety, continuously evaluating patient, team, and unit outcomes, and taking appropriate action. Responsibilities also include safe administration of medications, treatments, and therapies according to clinical protocols, demonstrating effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution skills to foster team collaboration and appropriate delegation. The role requires pursuing professional development, completing required education, and maintaining certifications, while adhering to ethical decision-making and respecting interdisciplinary roles. The NICU RN will perform appropriate delegation to other nursing staff and unlicensed assistive personnel, and maintain accurate, timely EHR documentation. The position may require floating to other units, departments, care areas, or facilities within the designated service area to meet patient care needs. The nurse must demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate for the age of the patients served, including understanding of growth and development principles over the life span and the ability to assess and interpret data relevant to age-specific needs.
