About The Position

Founded in 1955, Dignity Health - Northridge Hospital Medical Center is a 394-bed, acute care, nonprofit hospital. As our Respiratory Therapist, you will provide essential direct patient care, assessing, treating, and managing patients with respiratory disorders. Your role is vital for improving patient outcomes. Every day you will assess respiratory status, implement treatment plans (oxygen, ventilation, airway management), and educate patients/families. You'll document interventions and collaborate with physicians and medical staff. To be successful, you will demonstrate strong clinical skills, critical thinking, and equipment proficiency. Excellent communication for patient interaction and interdisciplinary collaboration, plus a commitment to safety and continuous development, are essential.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED
  • A minimum of 1 year of critical care experience in respiratory therapy required
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience at a level 2 or greater, with competency in neonatal and newborn delivery intubation required
  • CA Respiratory Care Practitioner License (RCP License) required
  • AHA Basic Life Support - CPR required
  • AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support required
  • AHA Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP License) required
  • Fire Safety (must obtain within 90 Days of start date) required

Responsibilities

  • Assess respiratory status
  • Implement treatment plans (oxygen, ventilation, airway management)
  • Educate patients/families
  • Document interventions
  • Collaborate with physicians and medical staff
  • Apply clinical knowledge and expertise for coordinating patient care by regularly planning and evaluating the respiratory care of patients
  • Demonstrate effective respiratory care judgment and a working knowledge of the respiratory process
  • Guide interdisciplinary team members by supervising respiratory interventions and assisting with related tasks
  • Provide leadership by establishing priorities and coordinating respiratory care
  • Document and communicate all observed symptoms, reactions, treatments, and changes in the patient's condition to the appropriate member of the interdisciplinary health care team
  • Coordinate plan of care with other members of the interdisciplinary health care team to achieve desired goals and outcomes
