About The Position

As a Respiratory Therapist at Dignity Health - Northridge Hospital Medical Center, you will provide essential direct patient care, assessing, treating, and managing patients with respiratory disorders, with a focus on improving patient outcomes. Your daily tasks will include assessing respiratory status, implementing treatment plans such as oxygen therapy, ventilation, and airway management, and educating patients and their families. You will also be responsible for documenting interventions and collaborating closely with physicians and other medical staff. Success in this role requires strong clinical skills, critical thinking abilities, and proficiency with respiratory equipment. Excellent communication skills are crucial for effective patient interaction and interdisciplinary collaboration, alongside a commitment to safety and continuous professional development. You will apply clinical knowledge and expertise to coordinate patient care, regularly planning and evaluating respiratory care, and demonstrating effective judgment and a working knowledge of the respiratory process. The role also involves guiding interdisciplinary team members by supervising respiratory interventions and assisting with related tasks, and providing leadership by establishing priorities and coordinating respiratory care. You will document and communicate all observed symptoms, reactions, treatments, and changes in patient condition to the appropriate members of the interdisciplinary health care team, and coordinate the plan of care with other members of the interdisciplinary health care team to achieve desired goals and outcomes.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED
  • A minimum of 1 year critical care experience in respiratory critical care experience in respiratory therapy or A minimum 2 years experience in a level 2 or greater with competency in neonatal and newborn delivery intubation.
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner: CA
  • AHA Basic Life Support - CPR
  • AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support
  • AHA Neonatal Resuscitation Program
  • Fire Safety, within 90 Days

Responsibilities

  • Provide essential direct patient care, assessing, treating, and managing patients with respiratory disorders.
  • Assess respiratory status.
