About The Position

As a Respiratory Therapist at Dignity Health - Northridge Hospital Medical Center, you will provide essential direct patient care, assessing, treating, and managing patients with respiratory disorders to improve patient outcomes. Your daily tasks will include assessing respiratory status, implementing treatment plans such as oxygen, ventilation, and airway management, and educating patients and their families. You will also be responsible for documenting interventions and collaborating with physicians and other medical staff. Success in this role requires strong clinical skills, critical thinking, equipment proficiency, excellent communication for patient interaction and interdisciplinary collaboration, and a commitment to safety and continuous professional development.

Requirements

• High School Graduate or GED
• A minimum of 1 year critical care experience in respiratory therapy OR a minimum 2 years experience in a level 2 or greater with competency in neonatal and newborn delivery intubation
• Respiratory Care Practitioner: CA license
• AHA Basic Life Support - CPR certification
• AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification
• AHA Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification
• Fire Safety certification, within 90 Days of hire

Responsibilities

• Assess respiratory status
• Implement treatment plans (oxygen, ventilation, airway management)
• Educate patients/families

• Collaborate with physicians and medical staff
• Apply clinical knowledge and expertise for coordinating patient care by regularly planning and evaluating the respiratory care of patients
• Demonstrate effective respiratory care judgment and a working knowledge of the respiratory process
• Provide guidance to interdisciplinary team members by supervising respiratory interventions and assisting related tasks
• Provide leadership by establishing priorities and coordinating respiratory care
• Document and communicate all observed symptoms, reactions, treatments and changes in the patient condition to the appropriate member of the interdisciplinary health care team
• Coordinate plan of care with other members of the interdisciplinary health care team to achieve desired goals and outcomes
