As a NICU Nutrition Diet Tech, you will act as a receptionist for mothers dropping off and storing expressed breast milk, ensuring proper education for labeling, transport, and storage. You will retrieve daily orders for feedings, calculate new formulations or standardized recipes, and obtain verification for formulations with the NICU registered dietitian or patient's provider as needed. Your responsibilities include preparing expressed breast milk, donor milk, or formula according to provider orders, labeling and scanning all feedings per NICU guidelines, and distributing prepared feedings to the bedside at appropriate intervals. You will also be responsible for cleaning and sterilizing equipment used for milk/formula preparation and other reusable feeding equipment, ensuring proper operation of all equipment, and reporting problems to the appropriate supervisor. Additionally, you will clean and disinfect returned grant and rental breast pumps, maintain all storage equipment for feedings, and keep daily temperature logs for prep room appliances. This role involves participating as a member of the NICU Nutrition Committee and the Quality Assurance Team, which develops and reviews plans for milk preparation and administration according to the HACCP process. You will report to the NICU Manager and secondarily to the NICU Lactation Consultant.
