About The Position

This position is for a full-time NICU NA (Nurse Aide) at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center - BCH Pediatrics: Intensive Care Nursery. The role involves providing direct patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), performing special procedures, maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment, ensuring accurate communication of patient information, and providing age/developmental appropriate care. The position requires strong communication skills, the ability to perform effectively with changing workloads and competing demands, and basic computer skills. The work environment involves contact with patients, family, and staff, regular exposure to blood-borne and infectious diseases, and potential exposure to radiation and chemicals. Use of personal protective equipment is required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Completion of a applicable state State Approved Nurse Aide I course required.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Performs effectively with frequent workload changes and competing demands
  • Basic computer skills

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the implementation of the nursing process by giving direct care to patients under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Performs special procedures correctly under the direction of Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Creates and maintains a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, self, co-workers, and facility.
  • Ensures complete, accurate and timely communication of patient information.
  • Communicates to the team, co-workers, patients and family members in an effective, positive and professional manner.
  • Takes personal responsibility and initiative for performance, professional growth and development.
  • Provides age/developmental appropriate patient care in accordance with Age/Developmental Specific Care Guidelines for the specific age groups served.
