About The Position

The NGL Accountant is part of the NGL Accounting group within the R&M Operations Accounting department in the Controller’s organization. The group handles accounting for NGL purchases and sales, along with related inventory reconciliations. The role works closely with traders, schedulers, yield accounting personnel, and other support organizations. It also supports accounting processes, business requirements, process or system enhancements, and accounting standards. The position is based in San Antonio, Texas.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
At least 2 years of accounting or finance experience.

Responsibilities

Work with traders and schedulers to ensure purchases and sales across various transportation modes are recorded, matched, and distributed.
Ensure timely payment of product purchases by investigating and resolving vendor invoice discrepancies.
Reconcile inventory balances at assigned locations, working with company and third-party business partners to investigate discrepancies.
Identify efficiencies and recommend improvements to processes and standards.
Collect, compile, analyze, and verify financial and other data to ensure the integrity of accounting records.
Prepare analyses and schedules in support of financial statements.
Create and record journal entries and other transactions, maintain the general ledger, and reconcile accounts.
Ensure proper execution of controls and their performance, documentation, and retention in accordance with accounting policy.
Use systems and tools that may include Excel, SAP, Right Angle, BW, and Quorum.
May serve as a resource to less experienced accountants.
Support accounting processes by helping fulfill business requirements and process or system enhancements, and by supporting accounting standards.
Ensure successful completion of internal and external audits.
May document, update, and maintain internal procedures or work on special projects.
