About The Position

The NextGen program is designed for individuals to learn how to lead and participate in effective Young Life ministry through training and direct field experience. This role involves spiritual development, leadership development, resource development, direct ministry, and ministry support. Mission Staff are expected to adhere to Young Life's Statement of Faith and conduct themselves in a manner that reflects biblical standards. The program includes various training opportunities at the mission, regional, and area levels, with a focus on individualized training for spiritual maturity and ministry skills. A college degree is preferred, and proven relational skills, communication skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality are required.

Requirements

  • Proven relational skills with both kids and adults.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must profess a belief in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord.
  • Must subscribe to the statements and policies required of all Young Life staff, including the Young Life Statement of Faith.
  • Must be ready, willing, and able to fulfill ministry functions.
  • Must refrain from conduct and statements that detract from the biblical standards taught and supported by Young Life.
  • Must abide by all policies and practices of Young Life.

Responsibilities

  • Learn how to lead and participate in effective Young Life ministry.
  • Develop a yearly personal growth plan that fosters a vibrant spiritual life.
  • Seek and maintain relationships and disciplines within a church community.
  • Actively participate in the spiritual life of the Young Life community.
  • Lead teams and individuals in spiritual development.
  • Meet with volunteer leaders and area leadership on a regular basis.
  • Recruit and train new leaders to build a leadership team.
  • Model excellence in contact work, club, Campaigners, and camping to other leaders.
  • Assist in training leaders, team leaders, and committee on effective teamwork and developing a yearly ministry strategy.
  • Raise financial support and maintain good donor care practices.
  • Communicate ministry updates and progress to personal donor partners.
  • Network and develop strategic relationships with key adults in the community.
  • Assist with camp fundraisers.
  • Actively engage in all three levels of contact work.
  • Lead a team to plan and conduct a Young Life club and Campaigners/discipleship ministry.
  • Lead a team to implement a summer and school-season camping strategy.
  • Serve on a summer assignment at a Young Life camp each year.
  • Adhere to all Young Life policies and procedures and maintain professionalism.
  • Manage finances with stewardship, accountability, and transparency.
  • Maintain accurate information on kids, leaders, and donors for area records.
  • Provide clear, prompt, appropriate, and professional communication.
  • Set yearly strategic ministry plan and initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
