About The Position

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities by providing personalized support and assistance. This position focuses on fostering independence and promoting community integration for people we support, ensuring they have access to necessary resources and opportunities. The DSP will work closely with people to develop and implement individualized care plans that address their unique needs and goals. By building trusting relationships, the DSP will empower people to make choices and engage in meaningful activities. Ultimately, the DSP's efforts contribute to a supportive environment that encourages personal growth and enhances overall well-being. The Employment Specialist is outgoing, motivated and loves to connect with new people. They should easily adapt to new situations and be flexible as daily routines and responsibilities vary. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a related field.
  • Valid driver's license in the state of PA, NJ or DE
  • Use of a insured registered vehicle for Employment Services only (mileage reimbursement)
  • Must be available to attend the 2.5 week hourly paid-training program during the hours of 8am-5pm
  • Covid Vaccination

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in CPR and First Aid.
  • Certification in PA DPW Medication Administration
  • Microsoft/Technology Skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • knowledge of behavior management techniques

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct assistance to people in daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks.
  • Provide direct assistance for employment opportunities such as: Resume builiing, interviewing and supporting at work
  • Support people in developing and achieving personal goals through skill-building and community engagement.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of peoples' progress and any changes in their needs or behaviors.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to create and update individualized support plans.
  • Facilitate social interactions and community involvement to promote inclusion and enhance social skills.
