About The Position

Men in Blazers is seeking a Newsletter Writer for The Women's Game (TWG), a newsletter dedicated to women's soccer/football. The role involves writing engaging content, assisting with newsletter production (writing, building, and scheduling sends), and staying informed about women's soccer across major American and European leagues, as well as the cultural conversation on social media. The writer will collaborate with editors, the newsletter director, and the TWG team, participating in brainstorming sessions while adhering to brand standards.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional writing experience.
  • Encyclopedic interest in and knowledge of women's football.
  • An understanding of newsletters: what works, what doesn’t, how, and why.
  • Love of pop culture and its intersection with sports.
  • Exceptional creative writing and editorial skills.
  • Ability to write copy and create content adhering to TWG’s brand standards and tone of voice.
  • Availability to work weekends as needed.
  • Desire to engage with the TWG community and be the voice of the brand for the newsletter audience.

  • Experience writing or performing comedy.
  • Skills in project management or design.

Responsibilities

  • Write engaging content for the TWG newsletter.
  • Assist with newsletter production, including writing duties and building/scheduling sends in the publishing platform.
  • Write match previews and recaps.
  • Curate important moments in women's soccer from the media landscape.
  • Connect with the highly-engaged audience.
  • Inform and entertain the audience.
  • Keep a close eye on developments in major American and European women's soccer leagues.
  • Monitor the cultural conversation around women's football on social media.
  • Collaborate with an editor and the newsletter director.
  • Coordinate with the larger TWG team.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions.
  • Adhere to TWG's brand standards.
  • Watch women's soccer/football, including live games or highlights.
  • Write newsletters in various formats in collaboration with the team.
  • Fact-check all newsletter copy, including statistics, for accuracy.
  • Pitch new ideas and ways to cover developments in leagues and tournaments.
  • Meet or exceed deadlines and advance the TWG newsletter calendar, cadence, and format.
  • Partner with TWG's social media and marketing teams for cross-promotion and content packages.
