About The Position

MarketWatch provides real-time business news, analysis and stock market data to the general public. Providing insight into what the news of the moment means for your money, empowering you to take control of financial decisions. The Newsletter Writer/Editor write, edit and help produce newsletters across MarketWatch’s growing portfolio, including flagship products such as Don’t Short Yourself and Need to Know. They will play a central role in shaping that future—helping MarketWatch grow its audience, deepen reader engagement and create new opportunities for journalism to connect with readers beyond the homepage.

Requirements

5+ years of experience in journalism, newsletters, or digital media or a related field.
Exceptional writing and editing skills, with experience producing newsletters or other audience-focused journalism.
Strong editorial judgment and an instinct for identifying stories and ideas that can build habits and deepen reader engagement.
Comfort using audience data and reader feedback to inform editorial decisions.
Ability to make complex financial and economic subjects accessible, useful and engaging for a broad audience.
Familiarity with newsletter platforms and audience-engagement tools.
Ability to manage multiple newsletters and priorities in a fast-moving newsroom.

Responsibilities

Write, edit and help produce newsletters across MarketWatch’s growing portfolio, including flagship products such as Don’t Short Yourself and Need to Know.
Help develop distinctive voices, formats and editorial approaches for individual newsletters.
Bring a conversational, personality-driven approach to financial journalism and help turn MarketWatch reporting into compelling newsletter experiences.
Collaborate with audience, social, video and marketing teams to extend the reach and impact of MarketWatch’s journalism.
Work closely with reporters and editors across the newsroom to identify stories, ideas and voices that can strengthen our newsletters.
Use audience data and reader feedback to improve subject matter, presentation and engagement.
Experiment with formats and approaches that can build reader habits and deepen engagement
Help to establish repeatable editorial practices that can strengthen the quality and execution of newsletters.
Help establish distinctive voices for the new/relaunched newsletters
