About The Position

Join ELLE Decor's editorial team to help shape the conversations driving the world of design and luxury lifestyle. As a Temporary News Writer, you'll transform breaking news, emerging trends, and cultural moments into compelling stories that inform, inspire, and engage our audience. We combine trusted journalism with innovative storytelling to create content that informs, inspires, and connects audiences around the world.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in digital news writing, lifestyle journalism, design media, or a related editorial field, or equivalent experience.
• Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with the ability to produce clean copy under tight deadlines.
• Strong news judgment and the ability to identify stories that resonate with digital audiences.
• Familiarity with design, interiors, architecture, luxury lifestyle, or related cultural topics.
• Ability to balance speed with accuracy while maintaining high editorial standards.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Collaborative mindset and willingness to work cross-functionally with editors and other stakeholders.
• Hybrid work schedule based in New York, NY, with an expectation of four days per week in the office.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily news sweeps to identify timely, relevant, and high-interest story opportunities.
• Write fast, accurate, and engaging news stories that reflect ELLE Decor's elevated, design-forward editorial voice.
• Translate breaking news, cultural conversations, and emerging trends into polished, accessible content for a style-conscious audience.
• Pitch and execute timely digital stories with strong audience appeal and performance potential.
• Cover news across design, architecture, real estate, art, luxury lifestyle, and adjacent cultural spaces.
• Ensure all reporting is accurate, well-sourced, and aligned with ELLE Decor's editorial standards and brand sensibility.
• Collaborate closely with editors to respond quickly to the news cycle while maintaining exceptional quality and a distinctive editorial perspective.
