About The Position

News/Talk 98.9 WORD (WYRD-FM) is seeking a full-time News Anchor/Reporter to create on-air and digital content. The ideal candidate will possess an aggressive, curious mindset and work ethic, with the ability to multitask efficiently to meet deadlines and demonstrate creative instincts in finding and breaking local stories.

Requirements

• High energy, passionate approach needed
• Journalistic writing skills a must
• Simple digital video and editing skills
• Anchoring on-air newscasts
• Understand that accurate reporting and speed to market is critical
• Must be mobile to cover news on the scene and in the field
• Existing cell phone service and recent edition smartphone
• A vision for excellence
• A valid driver’s license, satisfactory completion of a motor vehicle record check, and, if the position requires use of applicant’s own vehicle, proof of insurance, is required.

Nice To Haves

• 2 or more years experience covering breaking news, and original news stories for media using audio and digital assets.
• Produce content on multi-media platforms including web and social media sites

Responsibilities

• Cover breaking news on-air, and in digital content
