About The Position

The News Producer is responsible for overseeing the complete preparation of newscasts. This includes writing stories, coordinating with reporters, executive producers, assignment desk staff, and the production department. The producer will also coordinate the program in the control room. A strong understanding of current events is necessary to participate in the editorial process and write scripts.

Requirements

• Knowledge of television news
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required
• Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays
• Ability to work in a fast-paced high-energy environment with daily deadlines and changing priorities
• 3-5 years’ experience as a writer or producer in a commercial news operation required
• News computer knowledge necessary
• A Valid driver’s license is required

Nice To Haves

• College degree in journalism or broadcasting preferred
