About The Position

ABC 17 News is looking for a Morning News Producer. The right candidate will join a vibrant team of journalists who remain on the cutting edge of this constantly changing field. The News Producer’s duties include assembling daily newscasts and assisting with the management of the station’s news website and other digital entities. The producer takes an active role in daily editorial discussions, builds the rundown, writes news scripts, communicates with the team, and times the broadcast. They may also edit the video and create graphics. The producer ensures every element of the newscast is fully prepared before airtime. They plan ahead, meet deadlines, and keep the production running smoothly for everyone involved. This includes having scripts completed, graphics finalized, video lists ready, accurate timing in place, and all essential information organized and accessible. You’ll be expected to function within the framework of a research-driven news department that emphasizes source cultivation, enterprise storytelling, and breaking news. Employee must have the flexibility to work across multiple platforms and could be called upon to send emails and make calls on news stories, work a beat, web edit, etc.
