Requirements

Strong writer
Good organizational skills
Superior news judgment
Eye for video, graphics and the elements that make a live television show more watchable
Ability to work well under pressure
Ability to work well with other people
Ability to meet strict deadlines
Valid Missouri driver’s license
Pass a drug test, background and MVR check

Nice To Haves

College degree in journalism, communication or a related field
Previous newsroom experience
Operation of a company vehicle or a personal vehicle for business use

Responsibilities

Assembling daily newscasts
Assisting with management of the station’s news website and other digital entities
Taking an active role in daily editorial discussions
Building the rundown
Writing news scripts
Editing video
Creating graphics
Communicating with the team
Timing the broadcast
Functioning within the framework of a research-driven news department that emphasizes source cultivation, enterprise storytelling and breaking news
Functioning across multiple platforms
Making calls on news stories
Working a beat
Web editing
