About The Position
KQ2 is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic News Producer to join their dynamic newsroom team. This role focuses on producing live TV newscasts with an emphasis on strong writing and showcasing skills, identifying the "big story" of the day, and creating impactful newscasts. While the primary focus is on television, there will be opportunities to create content for digital platforms. KQ2, in partnership with News-Press & Gazette Company, broadcasts across all four major networks (ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC) and has been the most watched television station in St. Joseph, MO for over 72 years.
Requirements
- Prior experience producing TV newscasts
- Strong broadcast and digital writing skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work in a high-pressure environment with staff of all levels
- Must be able to always lead by example
- Ability to occasionally shift schedule on short notice
- Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record
- Proficient knowledge of TV broadcast equipment
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test and background screening
- Must live within the St. Joseph area highly preferred: a desire to establish roots in the Midwest.
Nice To Haves
- BS degree in journalism or mass communications is preferred
