About The Position

FOX Television Stations owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations in the U.S. These include stations located in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas, or DMAs, and duopolies in 11 DMAs, including the three largest DMAs (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago). Of these stations, 18 are affiliated with the FOX Network. In addition to distributing sports, entertainment and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week. These stations leverage viewer, distributor and advertiser demand for the FOX Network’s national content. FOX 5 DC / FOX 5 Plus is seeking an experienced, creative, and energetic News Producer to join our winning team. As part of Fox Corporation and Fox Television stations, we deliver more hours of original programming than any other local station in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia market. You’ll help shape stories that inform, engage, and inspire our community across broadcast, digital, and streaming platforms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a medium-to-large market.
  • Proven ability to identify, prioritize, and craft impactful stories with strong writing and storytelling skills.
  • Familiarity with newsroom computer systems, live production tools, and non-linear editing.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines with sound decision-making.
  • Innovative thinker who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Maintains composure under pressure and contributes positively to newsroom culture.
  • Candidates must submit writing samples and a reel of recent production work.
  • Flexibility for evenings, weekends, holidays, and breaking news coverage is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all aspects of assigned newscasts – from story selection and editorial decisions to final delivery.
  • Write, edit, and produce engaging stories and segments for broadcast and digital.
  • Work with the directors, assignment desk and editors, on-air staff, and field crews to manage live shots, visuals, and supporting materials.
  • Collaborate with digital and news teams to ensure stories reach audiences on all platforms.
  • Participate in daily news and production meetings and help shape newsroom coverage strategies.
  • Perform other duties.
