About The Position
NEXTPredict.io is seeking an experienced US-based News Editor to launch and lead daily editorial coverage for their new media brand focused on the prediction markets industry. The role involves setting the news agenda, breaking stories, editing copy, building a source network, and translating complex developments into clear journalism. The ideal candidate will have strong newsroom experience, excellent editorial judgment, and a passion for prediction markets, understanding their intersection with regulation, finance, crypto, politics, sports, technology, and gaming. This position will help define the editorial voice, shape coverage priorities, and establish NEXTPredict.io as a leading news and data platform. The successful candidate will also represent the brand at industry events, including the World’s Prediction Markets Summit.
Requirements
- US-based, with strong knowledge of the US media, regulatory and political landscape
- 3+ years of newsroom experience, ideally including editing responsibilities
- Proven ability to break news, manage sources and shape editorial coverage
- Demonstrable knowledge of prediction markets
- Strong understanding of crypto, digital assets and adjacent sectors
- Excellent writing, editing and communication skills
- Ability to explain complex topics clearly and accurately
- Strong deadline discipline and comfort operating in a fast-moving news environment
- Commitment to editorial integrity, independence and brand safety
Nice To Haves
- Experience covering crypto, fintech, financial markets, trading, politics, regulation or emerging technology
- Existing source network across prediction markets, crypto, finance, gaming
- iGaming or sports betting industry knowledge
- Experience with regulatory filings, court documents and public records
- Comfort appearing on podcasts, video interviews or event stages
- Experience mentoring reporters or helping build a newsroom from scratch
Responsibilities
- Lead daily coverage of the prediction markets industry
- Report and edit stories on regulation, enforcement, launches, funding, and more
- Identify and produce data-led stories alongside visual storytelling
- File clean, accurate and timely copy with strong headlines and clear angles
- Edit news, analysis, interviews and opinion pieces to a high professional standard
- Apply strong news judgment and ensure every story has a clear reason to exist
- Maintain editorial standards around accuracy, fairness, attribution, and integrity
- Help define the NEXTPredict.io editorial style, tone and coverage playbook
- Build and maintain a strong source network across prediction markets, crypto, fintech, trading, regulation, venture capital and policy
- Develop trusted relationships with founders, executives, investors, lawyers, analysts and regulators
- Land regular exclusives, data-led scoops and agenda-setting interviews
- Produce sharp explainers and “what this means” pieces on complex market developments
- Translate regulatory filings, court cases, agency actions and product changes into accessible journalism
- Identify the bigger themes behind the daily news cycle
- Apply news SEO best practices across headlines, metadata, internal linking and taxonomy
- Work with marketing and social teams to package stories for distribution
- Help grow organic traffic, newsletter engagement and audience loyalty
- Represent NEXTPredict.io at industry events, including the first World’s Prediction Markets Summit in New York
- Support event coverage through interviews, live reporting, agenda development and post-event analysis
- Collaborate with the events team to identify speakers, themes and content opportunities
